What is an entrepreneur?
An entrepreneur is an individual who, rather than working as an employee, begins and runs a small business, assuming all the risks and rewards of the venture. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as an innovator, a source of new ideas, goods, services and business/or procedures.
Entrepreneurs play a key role in any economy. These are the people who have the skills and initiative necessary to anticipate current and future needs, and bring good new ideas to market. Entrepreneurs who prove to be successful in taking on the risks of a start-up are rewarded with profits, fame and continued growth opportunities. Those who fail suffer losses and become less prevalent in the markets.
Think “home-based business” when you think entrepreneur; think shoestring budgets just getting started, with huge dreams on a wing and a prayer, but you must also think about huge rewards for huge risks; many fail, but many find the pot of gold they are seeking.
Oftentimes an entrepreneur is on the go, a mobile businessman with a mobile office, and many, especially during the initial years of their venture, work in isolation. A small budget plus the mobile, isolated nature of the job means a continual need for short-term office rentals, daily office rentals which cost very little but which offer a professional atmosphere. Thus came the concept of coworking space.
What is coworking space?
Coworking space is a shared desk, or shared office space, in a common building designed for short-term office leases. It is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to enter a business environment for a short period of time with a low cash outlay, an opportunity to work among kindred spirits in a creative, supportive environment.
How does a coworking space work?
Say you are an entrepreneur, and you are traveling around the area calling on customers. You go fro hotel to hotel, working long hours, and after calling on customers you go back to the hotel room for hours of computer work. The long hours and isolation of the hotel room finally wear on you, and you need to work amongst real people who understand what your situation is like. And then you hear about coworking space, an opportunity to rent an office space for a day, or shared office space for a day, and it turns out to be the answer to your prayers.
Coworking space is available in most major cities. A simple Google search will net you a few phone numbers to call in your search for office space to rent for a day or two.
