What is an executive office?
An executive office generally refers to an office used by a company’s top-level executives. It is a hub of the company. However, it is also a term which refers to any office used by any businessperson, so what we tell you in this article will be tempered by your own personal needs.
What you can expect to pay for an executive office.
Let’s take our own Fort Worth for an example. The 2022 figures showed that, on average, executive offices in Fort Worth were renting for $26 per square foot per month. Do the math on that. A 200-square foot office, then, would cost in the neighborhood of $5200 per month in the Fort Worth business district.
How about other cities? We can’t answer that, but you can certainly do your own research. Office space for rent in Los Angeles will cost considerably more than office space in Waterloo, Iowa, or Barre, Vermont. That’s just the nature of the commercial real estate business.
There are offices which do not carry the label “executive offices” which will cost less. This is true in any city. You may be able to find a perfectly suitable office space for lease for $10-$15 per square foot in a less-desirable section of town; remember, though, that the rental price is only part of the cost discussion. You will also need to factor in the cost of utilities, WiFi, insurance, furnishings, signage . . .it can get expensive very quickly.

The alternative we would like to suggest is called coworking space, or shared office space, and it is a trend which has firmly rooted in the business world. Instead of leasing an office full-time, coworking space allows you to rent only when you need to, and to share common spaces with other executives in the same general office space.
How does it work? Let’s say you decide you really only need an office for six months out of the calendar year. With coworking space, you only rent an office when you need it; there are no long-term rental agreements. And, since you are not renting full-time, you have no need to purchase signage or furniture or utilities; those things are included in the coworking space you rent.
